"The coolest film organization in the world." —John Waters
Love 16mm film? Ever wanted to learn how to project it? Now you can!
On SATURDAY, MAY 31st, from 10am to 12pm, the FMC's Artist Liaison, Matt McKinzie, will lead a 16mm projection workshop at the Film-Makers' Cooperative (475 Park Avenue South, 6th Floor). Learn the ins and outs of an Eiki projector, the art of both single-screen and double-screen projection, and how projection is in and of itself a form of performance and creative expression that can alter the experience of viewing a film. This workshop will offer both practical, hands-on projector training as well as a mini-seminar about the history of film projection and how projection has been employed, manipulated, and transformed by avant-garde filmmakers (e.g. Barbara Rubin, Anthony McCall) throughout history.
THIS WORKSHOP IS FREE TO ATTEND! REGISTER TODAY.
The Film-Makers’ Cooperative (a.k.a. New American Cinema Group) is the largest archive and distributor of independent and avant-garde films in the world. Established in 1961 by a group of 22 path-breaking moving image artists (including Andy Warhol, Jonas Mekas, Shirley Clarke, and Stan Brakhage), the Coop has more than 5,000 films, videotapes, and DVDs in its collection.
