"The coolest film organization in the world." —John Waters
You’ve made a film. Now what? This free workshop, hosted by Joel Schlemowitz at The Film-Makers' Cooperative (475 Park Avenue South, 6th Floor) from 11am-2pm on Saturday, May 9th, will survey the opportunities for the emerging experimental filmmaker, discussing film festivals, venues, grants, distribution, residencies, and artist labs.
Topics to be covered in detail will include: how to select film festivals to send work, DIY film screenings, tips for effective grant writing and navigating the application process, the paradigm of alternative and non-exclusive distribution through Coops and other artist-run organizations, residency and film workshop opportunities. Workshop participants will be provided with a resource list of experimental-friendly film festivals, venues, distributors, etc.
This workshop is free to attend and open to all, regardless of experience level.
Suggested donation: $20-30.
