"The coolest film organization in the world." —John Waters
ON SATURDAY, MAY 2nd, at 7pm, join us for the second iteration of HER GAZE at The Film-Makers' Cooperative (475 Park Avenue South, 6th Floor!).
HER GAZE is a series curated by Erica Schreiner and Matt McKinzie foregrounding the work of women filmmakers and video artists who perform for their own cameras, thereby redefining the female gaze through self-directed acts of looking and being looked at. Our first program screened on December 5th, 2025, and we are excited to screen new works in this series this spring!
For the next installment of HER GAZE, we are thrilled to present seven groundbreaking film and video works by Barbara Rosenthal, Benja Thompson, Erica Schreiner, Laurie Anderson, Lynne Sachs, MM Serra, and Stephanie Beattie!
*Seating for this event is limited.* We hope to see you there.
The Film-Makers’ Cooperative (a.k.a. New American Cinema Group) is the largest archive and distributor of independent and avant-garde films in the world. Established in 1961 by a group of 22 path-breaking moving image artists (including Andy Warhol, Jonas Mekas, Shirley Clarke, and Stan Brakhage), the Coop has more than 5,000 films, videotapes, and DVDs in its collection.
