"The coolest film organization in the world." —John Waters
This 16x14 cotton canvas bag features a screen printing of the Film-Makers' Coop's new logo, which harkens back to our original logo from the early 1960s, designed by Gregory Markopoulos! The Coop's logo amalgamates a filmmaker's eye and hands orbiting around a lock and a pair of keys, a nod to the Coop's 60+ year mission, as an artist nonprofit and distribution network, to break down barriers in independent filmmaking and unlock new visions of the avant-garde.
The Film-Makers’ Cooperative (a.k.a. New American Cinema Group) is the largest archive and distributor of independent and avant-garde films in the world. Established in 1961 by a group of 22 path-breaking moving image artists (including Andy Warhol, Jonas Mekas, Shirley Clarke, and Stan Brakhage), the Coop has more than 5,000 films, videotapes, and DVDs in its collection.
